Here’s this week’s tip from Systems Engineer Charles Koo: 

 

Tip 4: Thwart Bluetooth Attacks. Bluetooth attacks have colorful names, such as bluesnarfing, bluebugging, bluesmacking. Bluesnarfing is the theft of data/information from a Bluetooth-enabled device, typically a smartphone or a laptop. Since Bluetooth isn’t inherently secure, calendar information, contact information, emails and text messages are at risk of being stolen. Bluejacking involves sending spam to a phone, while with bluebugging, hackers can initiate phone calls and even listen in on calls. Bluesmacking is a form of Denial of Service attack. Educate the members of your firm that mobile devices are computers that need to be secure.
