Microsoft will offer Extended Security Updates for critical and important issues for Windows 7 for an additional three years after the end of support deadline of January 14, 2020.

Support for Windows 7 ends on January 14, 2020. While many customers are well on their way to deploying Windows 10, Microsoft understands that everyone is at a different point in the upgrade process. On December 1, 2019, businesses of any size with Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Enterprise will be able to purchase Extended Security Updates (ESU) through the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program. The Windows 7 ESU will be sold on a per-device basis, and the price will increase each year.

While end of support for Windows 7 is January 14th, 2020, organizations can purchase ESU at any time during the three years it is available. However, if an organization waits and purchases ESU for the first time in year 2 or year 3, they will have to pay for preceding years as well since all security updates are cumulative starting January 2020.
